Phase 1: Relief Care

Thumbs Up to Relief

Many people initialy seek care with Dr. Helle Leap because they are in pain. In this first phase of care, my main goal is to reduce your symptoms. Sometimes this will require two to three visits per week for a time. I make it a point to adjust my patients on the first day you come to the office. After all you are in pain and seeking relief, so let's get started.

It is a normal assumption for most people, that if you don't feel any pain that there is nothing wrong with you - that you are healthy. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health.

For example, consider a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first develops or only after it has become serious? How about heart disease? Regardless of whether you are talking about cancer, heart disease, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.

Chiropractic care is kind of like taking antibiotics, you might feel better right away but you still have to complete the treatment regime, in order to have a complete recovery.

Most people don't recall what they did that caused their pain. There is no specific injury per se. That is because most of these spinal conditions take month and sometimes years to develop. Finally you do one normal task and you feel like your spine "locked up". It really wasn't that specific task that is the real cause of the problem. You were simply at the edge of the cliff and one more little task pushed you over the edge.

Now, with chiropractic care we can start to reverse the process and get you back to a healthy living that is actually worth maintaining.

It is my normal protocol to get you out of pain as soon as possible, then establish the best spinal health possible for you, and that's what we want to maintain.

Let's make it a point to maintain the best possible spinal health for you and not maintain dysfunction.
